Orbitem Corp (“Orbitem,” “we,” “us”) operates orbitem.com and the products and publications we offer there.

This policy covers information we collect when you visit our websites, contact us, or use an Orbitem product. Some products collect additional data, called out below.

Mobile information and SMS

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Orbitem currently sends SMS only for DottedLine two-factor authentication (one-time verification and sign-in codes). SoMe, BossAI, and publications do not send SMS under this program. We collect your phone number (required) and, if already on your account, your name and email. We use this solely to send the codes you requested and to keep a record of your consent.

Message frequency varies. You may receive up to three verification texts per hour when you request a code. Message and data rates may apply. We do not send promotional texts.

Our products

• SoMe — a white-label social media platform you can run as your own network

• BossAI — an AI-powered campaign and management product

• DottedLine — civic coordination (petitions, local civic work, groups, and places)

• Publications — essays, reports, and other writing we publish

Data we collect

Across Orbitem sites and products

• Contact and account: Name, email, password (hashed when you have an account), and messages you send us

• Usage: Pages and features you use, and device data such as browser type and a random device identifier

• Business contact: If you inquire about a product or partnership, we keep the details you provide

DottedLine also collects

• Optional phone number, display name, and locality

• Petitions you create or sign, comments, and follow preferences

• Push notification tokens, trusted-device identifiers, and session metadata (IP and user agent)

• Photos of the front and back of a driver license or state ID when you apply for Place resident verification. We read the barcode on our servers and keep those images for as long as your DottedLine account is open, so we can produce the original ID if a signature audit is required. Images and parsed addresses are encrypted at rest. They are not shown on public signature walls and are not attached to petition delivery packets. They are deleted when you delete your DottedLine account.

How we use data

• Provide, operate, and improve Orbitem websites, products, and publications

• Respond to inquiries and send service messages you request

• Prevent abuse and secure accounts

On DottedLine we also

• Verify identity for petition signatures and Place residency

• Deliver petition exports to recipients you specify

• Send notifications about petitions you follow or organize

• Moderate content

Data sharing

• We do not sell personal data

• Service providers help us operate (hosting, email, and, for DottedLine SMS, Twilio). They may process data only to provide that service. This is not sharing for marketing or promotional purposes.

• DottedLine public: display names on signature walls and comments (never email or phone)

• DottedLine delivery: signer display names may appear in PDF/CSV exports to petition recipients

SMS / text messaging

See Mobile information and SMS above. When you request phone verification or confirm a new device in DottedLine, you opt in to receive SMS from Orbitem Corp for DottedLine. Opt-Out: Reply STOP to any message. You will receive one final confirmation and no further SMS from this program.

Your rights

Depending on the product:

• DottedLine: export or delete your account from Profile

• Any Orbitem product: email us to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold

You may opt out of marketing email (when we send it) using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. Transactional and security messages are not marketing.

Security

We use encryption in transit (TLS / HTTPS), access controls, and hashed passwords. DottedLine encrypts government ID photos and parsed addresses at rest, and uses expiring sessions. No system is perfectly secure.
